Effectively maintaining a secure and reliable computer network is essential to any business. Just look at the paralyzing effects it has on operations when computers slow down or crash. Most businesses cease to function when their computers do, and we know that halted operations---night or day---can be very problematic to your bottom line.
Does that mean you need to slap a million safeguards on your network in order to call it a day? No. In fact, too many programs, regardless of their function, can actually backfire on your network by working against it and taking up additional space.
Do you have television channels you rarely if ever watch but still pay for because they are part of a bundled package? Right. You are paying for something that in part, you don’t want and will never use. Additionally, you have to click through those channels to get to the program you want to watch. Of course, many remotes now allow you to program your “Favorites” to wade through the riffraff and narrow your selections down to only what you want.
This is, in a sense, how ComputerPros’ services can work for your business. We can weed through what you want and need and remove the pieces that are hindering your system. ComputerPros will never sell you a bill of goods or create unnecessary reasons to service your network. We get to know your company and only employ the security and maintenance methods you need to operate securely and without slowdowns or interruptions. In the case of computer maintenance, getting the “extras” is not necessarily a good thing. You want a strong security program and a clean operating system that isn’t clogged with unnecessary programs that compete with one another, take up space, and leave security gaps in your network.
Here are some of the service choices you have with ComputerPros. (Please contact a representative to have your particular network evaluated to see which services would benefit your business.)

No, that’s not the opening to a bad joke, unless you’d find it laughable the way some folks approach their computer maintenance. When we’re on the site of a minor snafu to a major computer meltdown asking questions to make our initial diagnosis, we often hear responses like, “What computer maintenance?” and can begin to adequately guess what the problem might be.
Most of today’s business owners didn’t grow up with computers in their pockets like today’s generation and likewise didn’t receive the “how-to” guide on computer maintenance when they incorporated the machines into their businesses. No, for many, business came first and computers were integrated into their daily operations as the technology wave gained traction and worked its way from giant laboratories into mainstream businesses and eventually our home, then our pockets in just a few short decades.
A crucial lesson that often goes missing when learning how to operate a computer is how to care for and maintain the computer. It’s a bit like learning to drive a car but never being taught when to change the oil, rotate or replace the tires, or check fluid levels. Things will run smoothly for a while, but eventually the car’s performance will suffer without that maintenance. There aren’t usually glaring signs that indicate exactly when those maintenance issues need to be addressed, which is why automobile manufacturers suggest certain marks on the speedometer and the oil change shop puts a reminder sticker in your window.
Well computers certainly don’t come with speedometers or stickers. In fact, there are few indicators concerning when you need to do maintenance on your computer and how to do it.
Ask your computer tech to help you create a maintenance schedule. You can even use your computer to schedule yourself reminders to
- Organize files
- Back up files
- Uninstall programs you don’t use
- Defragment your drive
- Scan for viruses
- Remove cookies and spyware
- Install appropriate blocks
- Dust your computer, especially the CPU heat sink and fan, with canned air every six months
It may not feel like you have time to take care of these things, but ask yourself, is scheduling a few hours here and there to perform routine maintenance better than having your systems crash unexpectedly, robbing crucial operating hours from your business? Computer maintenance does not have to interrupt the main flow of your business operations, which is more than we can say about glitches and crashes.
Schedule your painless computer maintenance check today. Computer Pros will devise a schedule to keep your operations running as smooth as silk!
